YES: The subwoofers need to be refoamed. The red portion wears out over time and needs to be replaced.
The speakers were not mistreated; I'm the original owner and have treated them well, in fact I've kept them in their original boxes for most of their lives.
This woofer-cone wear happens naturally over time. You can have the suround replaced professionally or do it yourself with a kit like this.

– [ SOLD ] 2 Vintage Cerwin Vega AT-12 speakers
– 2 Infinity SM 122 speakers – $120 $40 or best offer. Both bass speaker cones must be refoamed or replaced. Missing dust covers. Dusty and some cosmetic damage to the outside, but they're very tough and otherwise in good shape.
Important Note: Both pairs of speakers have worn-out foam around the bass cones; that's what happens with loudspeakers over time, the foam around the cones wears out. You need to have the cones refoamed, or do it yourself like this: Cerwin Vega woofer refoaming video or CV AT-12 Refoaming video.
To be clear: I will not do this for you; replacing or fixing the worn-out cones is the buyer's responsibility. Please DO NOT consider purchasing them without noting this. No refunds or exchanges.
